Support the Inverness by-pass

Full Text of Petition

To: Stewart Stevenson,

Transport Minister,

Scottish Parliament

Before the elections last year, the SNP promised the Inverness by-pass would go ahead before 2012. Since then, the Highland Council has planned for work to begin in 2010, so long as funding is made available.

The by-pass is vital to the Highlands - joining the A9, the A96 and the A82, and getting through-traffic our of central Inverness. It will be the first fixed link across the Caledonian Canal. SNP politicians who promised that the road would be built before 2012 now propose plans which will see it sidelined for at least a quarter of a century.

We urge you to reconsider this decision and ensure funding is made available to build the by-pass our city needs.
