Climate needs to be fought at a community level too - Thurso

12.00.00am GMT Wed 17th Feb 2010

Local MP John Thurso was delighted to be invited to visit the Alness Transition Town Group this week during Parliament's recess. The group is involved in tackling climate change by reducing our carbon foot print at a community level. Projects include anything from making people aware of how they can save their fuel bills by improving the insulation on their homes to using allotments to grow produce locally and educate people on the carbon foot print of their food wherever it is grown.

John was very pleased to be invited to draw out the winner from the ATTG survey.

John said: "With the disappointment of the climate change talks at Copenhagen it is great to see local communities working together to make sure we have a sustainable future. I learnt a lot talking to Paul and the rest of the Group and really think that working together at a community level is just as important as Government legislation when it comes to tackling climate change and changing our behaviour."
